Food allergies, the new common illness

Your stomach is making unspeakable noise, you just had to run to the toilet, or you gained several kilos in just a couple of hrs it seems like, and its all air. Have you ever been there? Or do you have other symptoms like:

  • Chronic tiredness
  • Bloating after a meal
  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Sudden weight gain in a short time ( hrs)
  • Pain in the abdomen
  • Sudden tiredness after a meal
  • Clogged  or dripping nose
  • Constantly cold or sinus problems
  • Water weight
  • Often migraines or sever headaches
These are just some of the things that can be an allergic reaction  to some foods.  The new awareness towards food allergy has unveiled that a lot of peoples health problems can be traced back to either food allergies or food intolerance. But before you continue reading you should know, that food allergy and food intolerance is not the same thing.
Allergy is when there is an allergic response to certain foods. Leading to that the body’s immune system get activated in a way so that an inflammatory reaction takes place. The immune system identifies a protein as harmful (mistakenly), it gets tagged by the immunoglobulinE (igE). This tag fools the immune system making it think that the protein is harmful to the organism (the individual), and it triggers an allergic reaction.
Intolerance means that there is an non-allergic food hypersensitivity, this respons is delayed but it is a negative reaction. The only difference is that it does not involve the immune system.
After years of “bad immune system” and one infection after an other, I finally figured out the cause to it all. Food allergy. When I was younger I was bothered by eczema of different kinds, acnes and many other side affects. After discovering the root, I feel so much better, but I sometimes fall of the wagon. Meaning: I eat what I want, but not what my body likes.  But like I have said, people are different, and people have different reactions to things.
In the world there is a growing number of children and adults that have food allergies. There are in general eight foods that are considered  to be allergenic, and these eight alone stands for 90% of all food allergies: dairy, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, fish, soy, and wheat.
