This is one of the many new sugar kinds there is out there. Palm sugar is something that is new to me, it has a distinct smell when you open the bag.
Palm sugar is actually a produce of the coconut three, to be more correct: its the extracted nectar from the coconut palm three, turned into sugar.
It is said to be a low-carb sugar with a GI of 35, but there is now a debate if this is correct or not. Some say that the GI is 54, normal sugar has 64. Palm sugar is still the better choice due to its nutritional value. In palm sugar you will find several minerals such as potassium, magnesium, zinc, also vitamin B2, B3 and B6.
