Strawberry Oatmeal Smoothie

I drink this smoothie either as a quick fill me up after a workout or as a snack in the evening. Who knew that oatmeal could be used for this. Oatmeal has a lot of health benefits ( more to come on that one later). It keeps you fuller longer, and is a quick way to get fiber, and  high levels of protein.

If you don’t have avocado available you can use banana in stead.

1 Serving

1 dl oatmeal

1/2 avocado

1 dl frozen strawberries

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tsp palm sugar

2 dl milk (of your choice)

—————–

1.Mix it up in your blender until you have a smooth smoothie.

    I like adding oatmeal to a smoothie. My favourite exercise is tennis so I need energy release over a long period of time but do not want to feel too full up. So an oatmeal smoothie is perfect. I like your recipe and will try it next time but minus the sugar as I am trying to lose weight.

      Palm sugar is a low-carb sugar ( see the article). Refined sugar/white sugar is not a good option, as so is neither artificial sweeteners such as spenda etc. as they make you crave more sweet things. Agave nectar is also a good option, or yacon syrup.

        I agree it is better than white sugar but I am trying to avoid adding sugar/sweetener of any kind so I can get used to eating food that is not sweet. I add a a banana to smoothies if I need them sweeter but always try them first without. Thank you for explaining here and on my blog. That is very kind of you.

    Yum yum, this sounds very healthy and delicious 🙂 It’s true, oatmeal is very beneficial to our health, I always oatmeal porridge for breakfast 🙂
